- Dampen and dry first. If bangs are kinked from sleeping, wet them, then blow-dry them side to side with your fingers to reset the root.
- Part in the centre. Comb a clean middle part through the bangs.
- Take one side. Clamp the straightener close to the root, pointing downwards — never touching your skin.
- Bend away from the face. Glide down while rotating the straightener outward, half a turn, away from your face.
- Repeat on the other side. Same movement, mirrored.
- Cool, then set. Let them cool for 30 seconds, then push into place with your fingers.
- Finish. A light mist of hairspray on your fingertips, pressed onto the bangs.
Variations to try
- Bigger curtain: Two passes — one at the root, one mid-length — for more swoop.
- Tucked: Tuck one side behind the ear for asymmetry.
- With curls: Curl the lengths, then do the bangs last.
Common mistakes and quick fixes
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Bangs fall straight down | Rotate outward as you glide, don't glide straight |
| Bangs are greasy by noon | Skip oils near the forehead; use dry shampoo at the root |
| Bangs flip inward | Rotate away from, not towards, the face |

Frequently asked questions
How do you style curtain bangs without a round brush?
Clamp near the root with a slim straightener and glide down while rotating outward, away from the face.
Why do my curtain bangs split?
They're usually styled straight down. Bend them outward so the split becomes the centre parting.
How do I fix curtain bangs that are too short?
Bend them outward from the root to add length-looking swoop, and avoid styling them straight.
