How to do side-swept curls: step by step

  1. Deep side part. Part on the side you want the volume to fall away from.
  2. Curl everything. Curl in small sections. On the side the hair will sweep towards, curl away from the face.
  3. Pin to cool. Clip curls up while they cool for a longer-lasting hold.
  4. Release and soften. Separate gently with fingers.
  5. Cross-pin behind the ear. Sweep the back hair to one side and secure with two bobby pins crossed in an X behind the ear on the opposite side.
  6. Arrange over the shoulder. Bring curls forward over one shoulder and arrange.
  7. Polish the parting. Smooth the front flyaways with the Luxe straightener and set with hairspray.

Pack the Luxe straightener in your clutch — after the ceremony and photos, one pass on the front pieces refreshes the whole look.

Variations to try

  • With a hair accessory: Cover the crossed pins with a pearl or floral clip.
  • Side braid: Braid a small section along the hairline into the sweep.
  • Side ponytail: Tie low at the side with a ribbon.
